Day 12- How you found out about Blogger and why you made one

I read about blogs in a book and then went to Google which happily introduced me to Blogger! I had been writing in a book for over 4 years every morning and I thought it was time that I wrote in a blog so people could enjoy my madness, not just those pieces of paper that are now stored away on my bookshelf.

I have been working on getting the Art Marketing Salon ready for our first online session. I have 15 talented artists that have showed interest, so heres hoping that everyone will be as excited as I am and they all benefit from attending the art marketing salon.

There are nine sessions covered in the art marketing salon they are:
1 Introduction to Marketing
2 Set and Attain Goals
3 Define Your Art
4 Differentiate Yourself from Your Competition
5 Describe Your Collectors
6 Assess and Improve Your Exhibition and Sales Opportunities
7 Promote Yourself and Your Work
8 Create Good Habits
9 Follow Up

If this sounds like a bit of you and you want to join in please let me know before the 31st Jan.

There was another good art program on TV last night it was Dick Frizzell - Teaching a Fencepost to Paint. Renowned painter and illustrator Dick Frizzell takes 10 Hawkes Bay farmers with no self-professed artistic talent on a painting retreat. Their challenge? They have just three days to create a landscape their wives would be proud of. Click here to watch: http://tvnz.co.nz/new-artland/s2-e2-video-2962957

For the first time in ages I put my feet up in the afternoon, while Maddy was asleep and watched a movie Letters to Juliet. The movie is based in Verona, Italy – the beautiful city where Romeo first met Juliet – there is a place where the heartbroken leave notes asking Juliet for her help. It’s there that aspiring writer Sophie finds a 50-year-old letter that will change her life forever. As she sets off on a romantic journey of the heart with the letter’s author, Claire, now a grandmother, and her handsome grandson, all three will discover that sometimes the greatest love story ever told is your own. The movie bought a few tears to my eyes.

Shaughan is already working again so I'm hoping to go home to catch up with friends and family today. It has been such a long time since I went home, it's only an hour away, funny how you get stuck in your own little world.

The Youtube clip of the day is Glass Blowing a Mini Documentary

We have a huge community of glass artists here in Wanganui.

My card for the day was Notice the Signs

Your Art Marketing Salon looks like a cool event. I decided to blog, to include my on-line shops, and friends told me that others might be interested in my art and lifestyle, I never thought it would be so popular, lucky me. Loving that card. Recognizing the signs and listening to them is sometimes a bit tricky. cheers Marie

Art Every Day Month Day 13 - Basic Colour Theory

An understanding of the basics of colour theory is essential for every artist and increases the possibilities for your work. Colours are, after all, one of the basic tools of painting. Here are some of the things I have learnt. The Colour Wheel Most color wheels are based on three primary colours, three secondary colours, and the six intermediates formed by mixing a primary with a secondary, known as tertiary colours, for a total of 12 main divisions; some add more intermediates, for 24 named colors like this one.  Primary colours:  Are the three colours that cannot be created by mixing other colours together  - red, yellow, and blue. Secondary colours:  A secondary colour is made by mixing two primary colours together: red and yellow to get orange, yellow and blue to get green, or red and blue to get purple. The secondary colour depends on the proportion in which you mix the two primaries. For example, if you add more red than yellow, you get a reddish orange,...
