Only 5 days till the Open Studios event.

Life has been great!

I had Tony, Nick and Sam come over to do a photo shoot with them and we had loads of fun and took heaps of photos. I'm going to miss them loads when they go back to the UK. This photo was just a random image I took when we were walking to the Waimarie.

I have been working on finishing my catalogue for the open studios and I think I may have finished it? I just have to get Shaughan to do a proof read to make sure my spelling and grammar is right. If you want to have a wee look click here.

I finished hanging all the art yesterday and even gave our bedroom a good clean out. I just have to find a piece of carpet and it will be like a new room.

I had a great sleep last night and woke up a full moon lighting up the town it was so peaceful.

This Easter the town has been so quite a nice change from all the noise. It would be so nice if shops closed on Sundays again then people could spend more time with their loved ones, instead of going to work or shopping.

I had a lovely artist pop in a few days ago called Amanda she was from the USA and by accident ended up in Wanganui for the night. We sat had coffee and had a good chat about art. I'm so excited that next weekend, I will be opening my doors to more interesting people. I miss not having the gallery.

I finally got my fish tank set up and have to wait 3 days before I can buy some fish. It's pretty mad I have put shells, crystals, skulls, driftwood, my glass and so much more.
The water is all misty and it looks spooky. I would like to get black goldfish for the tank. It's exciting as I have always wanted fish since staying with Bex and watching her flatmates tropical fish swim around. I can't afford tropical fish at the moment but the goldfish will be a good start.

I just took this photo of my office, I feel so blessed to have this amazing space to work and live in!

I'm hoping to get the card I need for my computer soon, then I can upload more movies onto my blog. I can't wait to film an online tour of my home for those of you who can't make it here over the open studios.

My message for the day was: Hold the truth in consciousness that sickness cannot exist in the face of love, and you will reveal the greatest reality of them all.

My sister is having her baby soon and every time the phone rings I think it is a call to get to the hospital. It's so exciting!!!!!

Art Every Day Month Day 13 - Basic Colour Theory

An understanding of the basics of colour theory is essential for every artist and increases the possibilities for your work. Colours are, after all, one of the basic tools of painting. Here are some of the things I have learnt. The Colour Wheel Most color wheels are based on three primary colours, three secondary colours, and the six intermediates formed by mixing a primary with a secondary, known as tertiary colours, for a total of 12 main divisions; some add more intermediates, for 24 named colors like this one.  Primary colours:  Are the three colours that cannot be created by mixing other colours together  - red, yellow, and blue. Secondary colours:  A secondary colour is made by mixing two primary colours together: red and yellow to get orange, yellow and blue to get green, or red and blue to get purple. The secondary colour depends on the proportion in which you mix the two primaries. For example, if you add more red than yellow, you get a reddish orange,...

Art Every Day Month Day 9 - Numbers

11 RULES FOR LIFE ONE - Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. TWO - Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other. THREE - Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. FOUR -  When you say, "I love you," mean it. FIVE - When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. SIX - Be engaged at least six months before you get married. SEVEN - Believe in love at first sight. EIGHT - Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much. NINE - Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. TEN - In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling. ELEVEN - Don't judge people by their relatives. NUMBERS Numbers play a huge role in my life not one day goes past where I won't see sets of three or more numbers. It started at the clock I started s...

Art Every Day Month Day 5 - A mellow day for me.

Last night I was thought it would be fun to do different things everyday, to keep my blog interesting. I had high hopes of doing my creativity outside today but because of a snotty nose and sore eyes, I won't be venturing out there. I am going to keep it pretty simple today and create fractals. What is a fractal? A  fractal  is "a rough or fragmented  geometric shape  that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole," [1]  a property called  self-similarity . Roots of mathematically rigorous treatment of fractals can be traced back to functions studied by  Karl Weierstrass ,  Georg Cantor  and  Felix Hausdorff  in studying functions that were  continuous  but not  differentiable ; however, the term fractal  was coined by  BenoĆ®t Mandelbrot  in 1975 and was derived from the  Latin   fractus  meaning "brok...
