Our Baby Scan

We went for the 20 week scan today. We thought we would find out the sex but it was shy and had it's legs crossed, will have a nice surprise at the birth, I think it's a girl most days but it's really hard trying to guess. Here are some of the pictures from the scan.....

Middle of August already!!

Talk about a long time since I have written in my blog. It's been good not using my computer as much as I did. Yesterday I went for a walk around Durie Hill and got this photo of our building with it's lovely new colours. Last week I found out that I'm pregnant. It was a bit of a shock but we are both very happy and talk about getting excited. I'm so lucky to have my sister helping me out. I was trying to talk her into becoming a Midwife yesterday as she would be perfect!! Wanganui has a shortage of them I think there are 15 midwives and 800 babies being born a year. I heard some people are being shipped out of Wanganui to see a midwife. This was another photo I took yesterday I love it when the moon is out!!! I think the moon coming over Durie Hill is one of my favourite sights. I'm lucky to have such a good seat in our house to watch this! I have been busy doing lots of different things like the Tarot every morning which has been interesting. I have never kept a

Social Networking ROCKS!!!

Visit THE KEYHOLE a creative social networking website Yesterday I found a cool place on the net which allowed me to start building a social network website for all creative people. It was so much fun and I'm really excited to have a space for all my creative friends. I have been lucky to have friends from all creative fields and I have always wanted to have a space for everyone. My last job in Auckland was a casting assistant, so I was surrounded by actors and people in the film industry. I got to know all the agents in Auckland which was MAD fun! I have always had a passion for music and I seem to attract musicians like you wouldn't believe. And of course all the visual friends I have made over the last 6 years. So here is hoping that everyone will feel as excited as I do and we can get a good bunch of people together to share their creativity and passions. I had a beautiful surprise on Monday in the post, my sister In-Law, Christine Tizard, had sent me a book 'New Zealan

WINTER is here!!

For the past week it has been snowing on the mountain so it has been bloody cold here! I am a Summer girl and I like to always be warm, so I feel my brain hasn't been working as fast as it normally does. It was Shaughan's sisters 40 th birthday last Friday and we went to her house for a party. It was so much fun, I got to meet loads of new people and make new friends. I really feel blessed to have married into the Tizard family they are all such lovely kind people. We headed out to the hot rod show, the weather was perfect! I was so impressed with all the colours of the cars, it made is so yummy walking around them. My favourite car was a Chevy but this orange coloured car was my favourite colour! I think Shaughan and I will have to buy a hot rod when we have a house with a shed! If you are interested in having a look at more of the cars I have put my photos in the gallery on http://www.wanganui.org/ We headed out to the beach later that afternoon and watched the sun go

I love surprises

I have had the most special week this week with loads of surprise visitors. At 11:30am this morning I received a text from my beautiful friend asking me what I was doing for lunch? It was Stephen, I hadn't seen him since our wedding it was such a nice surprise. We headed down to Stella and had pizza and beer hmmmm. I finally got to hear about his adventures overseas and meet his lovely friend from Indonesia. They have just left and are heading down to the South Island for a fun filled holiday. Hopefully we will have their company for a night on their way back up to Auckland in a few weeks. Last Tuesday I got a text from the lovely Lisa, she was on holiday in the Mighty Mangaweka and wanted to come to Wanganui to get some photos on her new SLR camera. She packed Richard in the car and headed for Wanganui. I love it when things happen perfectly, I had filled my slow cooker with chicken that morning so there was plenty of food and wine so we had a relaxed night hanging out. I finally

Relaxing morning

Shaughan just took me out for coffee, before he jumped on a bus to Palmy. It was so lovely the sun was shinning and we got the chance to catch up with friends. It is days like this when you feel so blessed to be in this beautiful world. Last week I thought I would try ordering a photo book from digitalmax and when it came I was so happy! It was only $30 and it looks fantastic! If any of you are looking for a portfolio I highly recommend making a book online at http://www.digitalmax.co.nz/ . It did take me a few days to create the book. I found out about the arts policy for Wanganui this week. I'm really excited about the way the council are moving towards supporting all art forms in Wanganui . If you would like more information I posted an article for you to read at http://www.paintpit.com/ . Shaughan and I went out of town for a couple of days over Queen's Birthday weekend. We headed for Napier but only made it to Palmy, it was the best weekend! I bumped into heaps of peo

Happy Birthday Brenda!!!

It's my Grandmothers birthday today! I hope you have a very happy day Brenda x x x x x x. We also had our little Zach turned 4 this week, he is so cute. I bought him some new clothes, he looks so handsome in them. We have finally got an agreement to lease the building for another year which has been such a relief! It is really unsettling when you don't know what is happening with your home! I'm so over the moon my shoulders have started to relax and I have already started spending more money on the building, I have been making curtains to keep the cold winter night air out. We have 2 artists moving into the studio this week and are still looking for another 2 to move in. It is a great space they have the gallery to use which is a bonus. This building is such a great place to be creative in!!!! I got another 2 fish last week and have called them Sake and Goldie they are lovely. The first day I got them I couldn't see Sake and I found her stuck on the end of the filter t

Our Date Tin

Today I thought I would write about our date nights. Once a week Shaughan and I turn off the TV and go on a date together. We created a date tin full of ideas and we pick the date out and have the week to look forward to doing it. We also have a date book where I right all our dates we have had, one day I want to put together an exhibition on our dates. Here are a few of the date ideas we have in our tin: Invite 2 people each who have never been to our home for a 3 course meal. Have a naked swim. He has to surprise her with something. Play poker with friends. Go out for dinner somewhere we have never been. Dress up and walk up the main street. Go visiting friends. Take a photo of each other, you get to chose the dress and place. Go to your local pub for a game of pool. Fishing night on the beach. Write wills. She has to pamper him. Watch a hot movie together. Top Chef night, get friends to come over and make their best dishes. Write an article for a publication. Find something which bo

Man the stars were beautiful this morning!

I woke up and let Ralph out this morning and the sky was covered in stars like I had never seen before! It was so beautiful!!! I had an art agent from the UK come visit yesterday and we had a fantastic day! I got to show her my art and she wants to ship heaps of my paintings over there which is exciting! People have always told me that my work would suit being sold in the UK. I got to take her around to a few of my friends homes and then we went out to Stellar for dinner. She was really impressed with the talent here in Wanganui ! ROCK ON WANGANUI ARTISTS! The music clip I have chosen for today is the wonderful Darcy Clay singing Jesus I Was Evil. I spent the day doing research about my family history and have started an online family tree http://harrod.myheritage.com/ . It was really exciting and interesting! I worked out my Grandad's father or his father Henry Sedegwick Harrod was the cousin of William Digby Harrod , the son of Charles Henry Harrod , the man who started Harr

Beautiful Morning here today!

I woke up with a spring in my step and have been having a great morning, after 4 coffees, I feel like I have already done a days work. We went over to Palmy on Saturday night for my Adopted Dad's birthday, I adopted him a few years back. He cooked us a beautiful dinner and I finally got to see his new house he bought a few months ago. His Grandchildren stayed the night also and in the morning I was naughty and got them to jump all over him at 7:30am hahahaha. I got my video camera out and Cobain showed me his dance steps while Ashton got creative making his Mum a special Mothers Day card. Check them out they are soooooo cute! The New Zealand music clip I have chosen today is 'I see through you' by The Lick, a rocking Wanganui band! My message for the day was: Use your spiritual gifts to shower the world with Divine Light.

Well well well

Aren't friends the best!!!! I have seen so many of my friends this weekend and I fell really blessed to know such wonderful people. Being music month this month I have been sending out YouTube clips of NZ musician's to my facebook buddies and it's been so much fun that I thought I should really post some to my blog. This clip is one of my favourites at the moment and every time I play it I start moving my shoulders and tapping my toes. It is called Father Penguin and it is by The Smiles, a New Plymouth band. The clip is their first attempted at making a music video. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I will add a music clip every time I write in my blog. Since this is the first blog with a music clip I thought I would give you two :) This clip is the beautiful Sheba singing PAEKAKARIKI. New Zealand music ROCKS!!!! My message for the day was: Be assured that we are always available to assist you, and know that your prayers will never be denied.

Eight Ways to Positively Maintain Energy and Vitality.

I have been reading one of my favourite books 'Tarot the handbook' by Angeles Arrien. I wish I had this book 10 years ago when I started getting into the tarot it is the best book on the tarot, I have read! I want to share with you what she wrote about the Eight Ways to Positively Maintain Energy and Vitality. 1. The Ace of Wands: Truth - the state of consciousness where we absolutely refuse to abandon who we are and where we stay in the truth of who we are. 2. The Two of Wands: Dominion -allows us to be clear about what would bring peace, balance and dominion into arenas of our lives that would resolve anxiety and strife. 3. The Three of Wands: Virtue - when our mind, heart and action are in alignment, then we are able to be consistent, congruent. If the mind, heart and action are not in alignment this card reminds us to wait and not act. 4. The Four of Wands: Completion - move in new directions from a place of wholeness and completion. 5. The Six of Wands: Victory - the

Spending the day with Logan

I called around to see my sister today for a coffee and ended up hanging out with my nephew all day. It was great to get out of the house and have some fun. I made a little clip of Logan and Ralphie running around the beach it is so cute. I read a book about making movies yesterday it was so good! I am going to practice heaps at using my camera and finding out what is good and what isn't. My mind has already started thinking of what sort of film I can create. My message for the day was: You have no worries that you cannot thrust into our loving and awaiting arms, Dear One. Give them all away.

I finally put together a clip........

....of my walk around my art work on display in my home over the Whanganui Open Studio event in March and April 2008. The event was heaps of fun!!! I got to meet some wicked people and got time to talk to most people that came to visit my studio which was a bonus. BEWARE: The clip is pretty RAW ( I'm a beginner with the video camera). I have a little booklet I made for the open studios online CLICK HERE to download a copy if you want to know more about my art. My message for the day was: Each moment spent in prayer is like a coin put into a bank account.

I woke up to the rain this morning

The photo I have popped in here today was 2 photos I took the other day in the cemetery , then I played with them to make one, it's pretty spooky! I had a pretty stressful day yesterday, and my lovely friend Carolyn sent me this email which was just perfect! How to avoid stress. A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes. "He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden be

I love reading

I have been playing with my computer so much my arm is so sore! Yesterday I spent the afternoon resting after a beautiful lunch at Stella with loved ones and spending the morning reading a brilliant book about the left hand. The book goes through loads of exercises to get the left hand working, I have nearly filled up a visual diary with all the things I have learnt from this book. I love reading! I read a book about Judas a few months ago and I finally made a slide show of my belief of what happened....... Here is some of the stuff I have been learning from reading: The Power of Your Other Hand by Lucia Capacchione M.A. Did you know: 80 - 95% of the population did not get adequate parenting? This makes finding our inner child a task for most of us. By most time people reach adulthood, our natural healthy child-like traits are so wound up they are nearly dead, or distorted so much they are beyond recognition . The inner child is feelings, instincts, intuitions, spontaneity, and v

Anzac Day

I just went to my first dawn parade and it made me very emotional and filled up with tears. It made me realise how hard you have to fight for FREEDOM! The priest that took the service was a beautiful man who spoke extremely well. I wish I had caught what he had said on my camera but it will always be in my heart. Here is a small clip of my morning...... Over the past week I have been playing around with video editing software and today I wanted to find something to make cool slide shows. After browsing the Internet and watching a clip from www.about.com I found out that Microsoft movie maker was perfect. The about.com website is one of the best website for information on pretty much anything. I have been getting a few newsletters for different topics over the years and I find them fascinating. Anyway I already had the programme so I got to it and created this slide show......... My message for the day was: The 'Object' of your intention cannot be wrong or apart fro

Busy Week!!!

I have been very productive this week and even started a new painting. I'm not sure what I'm going to call her yet but I think it will be lady? In another few days I should have her finished? I have just started using oils on top of the acrylic so it may take a bit longer for me to wait until the oils dry. Last night I finally updated my gallery in my website http://www.denitatizard.com/ so now it has a better range of my work in there. I have been wanting to do it for ages but being a mammoth job I put it off, like you do. I would still like to put descriptions of all the paintings but that will be another time. I got stuck into uploading videos onto youtube www.youtube.com/paintpit that was fun. I have been playing around with my digital camera but there is something wrong with it so the clips come out all jolted I'm going to try and get it fixed soon. I have been trying to find a ride up to Auckland this weekend and thought I had it sorted but the person has alread

Open Studios 2005

I was just going through some of my old clips and I found this one of the Paint Pit studio when it was in the other side before I moved into the gallery. It was nice to see so many people interested and coming to our studio.

What fun!!!

I was going through some of my photo albums yesterday and it bought back many good memories. When I was 18 I moved from Palmerston North to Queenstown , that place rocks. I lived at the Arthurs Point Camp for a year, there were 112 permanent residents and most of them would come and hang out at my house because I had a fire place and TV. Then I moved to Christchurch for a year and meet some pretty cool people. I ended up moving to Auckland with my neighbour and his friend and loved it! I worked hard and got to hang out with my family that lived there and make new friends. When I decided to become an artist I knew that to have the dedication to my art, I needed to move out of the city, I thought that 6 months away from all the distractions to concentrate on my art would be heaps of time and I would move back with a good body of work. How wrong was I? Rotorua was the perfect place as it was a quick drive back to the city but after a few years my sister and Mum talked me into moving to

Hanging out with the family

I went and spent the day with Ness and the kids on Saturday and at 8:43pm her beautiful baby boy was born into the world. He was 8lb 10oz and she named him Achillies Nepia Te Wirra Paikea . It was a fantastic experience to be there at his water birth. We headed up to the hospital at about 8:20 and she made it look so easy! Vanessa ROCKS!!! She makes the most beautiful children. Here is a little video of Leah and I on the train at the park....... My message for the day was: Be open to receiving the good that comes to you each day.

Another perfect day in Paradise!

First I want to wish Rere a very happy 30 th birthday and a big sorry that we missed your party, I hope it rocked your socks off. It was lovely to have coffee with you in the morning and give you your gifts! I gave her the painting that I did last Wednesday it is all about shapes and what effect they can have on your life. I painted it after the workshop that I held through the open studios. It reminded me of sitting at the back of science class doodling on paper. Yes I didn't pass science from a lack of interest and a busy hand. I have had a good week, Sunday after the open studios I went and stayed at Maka's . I was so worn out that it was nice to crash out there! We went to Mike's 50 th party on Saturday night which ROCKED! They have such a cool place and great friends to party with. Monday my house had lots of people in it. Tuesday I crashed out on the sofa and watched movies all day and turned off my phone and door bell. Wednesday I got into setting my house up with

Been up since 4am

It's funny as last Saturday I was up at 3am all excited to open for the Open Studios and this week 4am. Last weekend was fantastic! Saturday we had a stream of people through our home, had a nice lunch with friends and we ended up rarking it up through the night. Sunday I got to have another lunch with more friends and caught up with people I hadn't seen in ages! I got my photo in the paper on Monday which was cool! The papers have been helping the open studios heaps this year which is really great to have their support. Bring on today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mum and I went over to Palmy on Tuesday and had a great day we went shopping in friendly Feilding and spent heaps of money at FPC Art Warehouse and then headed over to Palmy to hang out with Nana. Below are some photos I took of Nana's photos that we went through while we were there. HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA for yesterday. I finally visited my friend Ness and checked out her home whcih they had bought about a year ago, I can

Nana's Photos

Mum and I went to see Nana on Tuesday as she is turning 82 on Friday. While we were there we went through all her old photos. It was such a nice afternoon learning about Mum's life as a child.

One More Day Till I Turn 33

I'm excited! Being a lover of numbers turning 33 is going to be fantastic! I loved turning 30 and I feel that 33 is going to be an even better year! Mum took me shopping yesterday for my pressy and we bought 2 fish along with all the rest of the stuff I needed. I haven't name my fish yet as I'm going to get people who come up for the open studios to suggest names for them. I just checked on them and they are happy as swimming around their new world. I picked a black fish with a beautiful flowing tail and googly eyes, he is my favourite, and a big strong motley looking one. I have already spent lots of time watching them and am so happy to have finally got them! I felt like a kid, all excited, cause I had to wait a few days before Mum was free to go shopping. Rat my cat has seen them but didn't seem very interested as she just sat on the step and watched them with me, so lets hope she doesn't try and get in there with them. On Wednesday I went to the opening of

29, 30th March and 5,6th April my studio will be open.

Only 5 days till the Open Studios event.

Life has been great! I had Tony, Nick and Sam come over to do a photo shoot with them and we had loads of fun and took heaps of photos. I'm going to miss them loads when they go back to the UK. This photo was just a random image I took when we were walking to the Waimarie . I have been working on finishing my catalogue for the open studios and I think I may have finished it? I just have to get Shaughan to do a proof read to make sure my spelling and grammar is right. If you want to have a wee look click here . I finished hanging all the art yesterday and even gave our bedroom a good clean out. I just have to find a piece of carpet and it will be like a new room. I had a great sleep last night and woke up a full moon lighting up the town it was so peaceful. This Easter the town has been so quite a nice change from all the noise. It would be so nice if shops closed on Sundays again then people could spend more time with their loved ones, instead of going to work or shopping. I had a

The Stranger

I thought I would share this email I just read with you: A few years after I was born, my dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on. As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mum taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey. But the stranger ..... he was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries, and comedies. If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future! He took my family to the football and cricket. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn't seem to mind. Sometimes, Mum would

Whanganui River Adventure

Yesterday was a beautiful day. The girls, Rere , Maka and Sonya, came and picked me up and we went on a day trip up the Whanganui River. It was the most perfect day they had a picnic packed, Jocie the dog, and a full tank of gas. It's funny cause it felt like I was in the car with Tina, Davina and Ushula all of who are beautiful girls from my past! I had never been up the river and have been looking forward to doing this for ages. It was a great day we stopped at every good look out and took many photos. I finally saw where the Flying Fox was, I can't wait to go and stay there it looks wicked! We called into the church at Jerusalem where Mother Aubert had done so much of her good work and James K Baxter had lived. It was an amazing place and I am looking forward to spending more time there. Then we hit P ipiriki had a swim as you can see in this little video, meet a few of the locals and found a lovely spot in the sun to have our picnic, we had fantails flying around us an

Hello Hello

Life has been great! Shaughan and I have been having heaps of fun and working hard. I finally finished painting and hanging my collection of art in my toilet. It's pretty mad, I love it! I thought I had finished my catalogue for the open studios but after walking through my home I found so many more pieces to hang so it's back to getting it sorted, MISSION! I managed to get all my invites out yesterday for the open studios it is such a great bunch of people in the open studios this year, the town is going to ROCK! Last Saturday was International Woman's Day so we headed down to Majestic Square to watch Maka play a set, it was great, she rocked the town! It was a beautiful day I bumped into Wendy who had just won a 100km ride on a flash motorbike, how exciting! I so nice when Wanganui people get together and enjoy our beautiful town and the wonderful people in it! Mum's 60th birthday was fantastic! There where lots of lovely people there and it was the perfect day
