Tuesday 2nd October

I'm so excited, yesterday we went to go and get rego for my car and ended up getting that and 5 massive canvases. Which has worked out perfectly as I hadn't hung any paintings in my studio and they are now lined up on a wall waiting to be painted. I have been thinking about painting big paintings since we were in Auckland and we called into see see Chrisy at unitech were most of the art students were painting on large canvases and I so wanted to come straight back and start working on some. I haven't decided what I'm going to paint I have been thinking about the 7 sins and if I do choose this topic I will go purchase 2 more but I have also been thinking of keyholes as that was what my gallery was called and I like the idea of peeking though to see something. The days of the week also come to mind as I could use my numbers. I think I need to go and get 2 more? It was funny walking back cause we had them stacked up on top of each other and had to walk through the mall and with it being school holiday it was busy.

I have nearly finished painting the studio I only have a strip down the bottom and the I want to paint behind the bar and finish the laundry and the polls. I want to paint the lounge and have found another pail of paint which I could use and hopefully I will have enough to paint the bedroom. I was looking at the kitchen today and thinking it needs to be done also but that can wait till next mission time. We do have a toilet that really needs some attention as it has about 10 different colours in there and it just looks horrible.

This place is one of the oldest buildings in Wanganui. Our landlord bought it because it was going to be pulled down so the state it was in when we moved in was pretty messy. We have slowly been cleaning it up and the place is looking 100% better. We would love to buy it but it really will need lots of money spent on it in years to come and at the moment we don't have the funds to do that, which is a real bummer. Hopefully this summer they will paint the front of the building as it's in need of it!

I started this painting of the building last week which is going to be cute when it is finished.

We have been watching movies over the past few days. We watched 88 minutes last night it is a great movie and keep me wondering who was setting this dude up. The night before we watched Running with Scissors, that was really weird and I enjoyed the craziness of it and wonder what that dude is up to now. The other one was Knocked Up which was cute.
I would love to write a movie, maybe one day I will? The film industry is definitely the most enjoyable industry I have worked in. I spent most of my time as a casting assistant but went on set as a 3rd assistant director for an overseas ad which was fun, fun and more fun! I think it's the creative people that you get to work with and all the cool people you get to meet that I find the most interesting, oh and of course the pressure I love it!

My message for the day was: The angelic Kingdom loves you, and we see you as you truly are on the inside.

Art Every Day Month Day 9 - Numbers

11 RULES FOR LIFE ONE - Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. TWO - Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other. THREE - Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. FOUR -  When you say, "I love you," mean it. FIVE - When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. SIX - Be engaged at least six months before you get married. SEVEN - Believe in love at first sight. EIGHT - Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much. NINE - Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. TEN - In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling. ELEVEN - Don't judge people by their relatives. NUMBERS Numbers play a huge role in my life not one day goes past where I won't see sets of three or more numbers. It started at the clock I started s...

I Wanted to Be an Artist, So I Quit My Job and Became One

I had to share this article with you today, if I wrote something like this it would sound just the same... I Wanted to Be an Artist, So I Quit My Job and Became One by Christopher Fife. "Hi, I'm Christopher. I'm an artist." Exhale, run my fingers through my hair. "What do I do? Oh, I paint. I'm a painter. Yeah, I'm an artist." I tried it out every now and then, in front of the bathroom mirror. It sounded all right. But when I introduced myself as an artist outside my bathroom world of make-believe, I always felt false. I was like Magritte labeling a pipe. If I said I was an artist, I was an artist, right? Not exactly. Since I dedicated forty-plus hours a week to my corporate graphic design job, I was lucky if I painted a couple of hours a week. I came to despise myself for this self-deceit, for my inability to embrace what I really wanted to be. I wanted to be an artist. So I committed myself to becoming one. I started out like most people ...
