Thursday 25th October

Today I had a visit from a lovely lady that I had meet threw the NZ art guild website.

We went on a mission around the town to find some inspiration and get some photos. We headed down back streets and alleys looking for the perfect shot. The first place we found was amazing the sparrows were nesting and they weren't fussed with us being there. The light in the sky wasn't the best so we called into the glass studio and watched Brendon make a piece of glass. Headed down to the river, called into Bill's gallery to check out what was hanging on the walls, had lunch at Jolt and got to know each other walking all over town. We weren't sure what to do next so we came home and she checked out http://www.wanganui.org/ and picked our next location. It was the Winter Gardens, I was happy because my little sister had a statue in there that I hadn't seen yet so we headed up there and checked it out.
It was cool we went and got some bread from the cafe and feed the ducks and swans. Went to the birds Avery and found some spotty feathers, yummy! I have to take a photo so you can see what it looks like because it's beautiful!

We must have got back around 3:30pm so she hit the road back to home. I hope to have some of her work on the Paint Pit website soon. http://www.paintpit.com/

Yesterday I had another good go at the gallery and even got some of the cleaning done which means spaces are getting cleared out. Who would think I could put so much stuff down there.

We started changing our room around last night to try and get the traffic noise down and it's going to look fab, I'm excited! I love changing the house around.

My message for the day is: We can heal away low self-esteem and any personality characteristic that gives you pain.

Crikey it's after 5 now, were does that time go? I better get in that kitchen like a good girl and cook my man some food, ha ha.

Oh I must say that I had a fantastic email from vista print today and I'm really impressed with the way they work. If you haven't been to their site check it out http://www.vistaprint.co.nz/

Have a good one

Good-Bye Summer Family Ritual

For the past week I have been feeling the shift of seasons from summer into autumn. This has motivated me to c lean out closets, freshening up our home, make this summer photo collage, and created a family ritual. I find ritual really powerful it allows you the time to honour what has come before, say goodbye, and create intentions for what will come next. I've been poking around the internet and have found interesting articles on family summer rituals. Here are some of the suggestions I have read… Summertime is full of outdoor pursuits, so adding the outdoors into your ritual fits perfectly. Preserve summer fruits for the chilly months ahead. Engage in cooking or baking with summer ingredients. Shared a meal of seasonal food. Press summer flowers or herbs in books. Create a memory book of the past summer with photographs, ticket stubs, memorabilia, quotes, family jokes, poem, or anything else that reminds the family of fun times. Create a summer nature journal, detailing a

Art Every Day Month Day 7 - Encaustic Wax

I'm really enjoying blogging again, it's been years since I have written everyday. I used to do morning pages before I got pregnant, I have heaps of books full of my dribble. The Artist Way by Julia Cameron  got me into the morning pages! Every artist should own a copy of that book!  I was talking to a friend yesterday and she wanted me to order her a box of encaustic wax. I haven't done any encasutic for such a long time, so today was the day to dust off the cobwebs and get melting.  Here are my 2 creations for the day... Releasing my MADNESS!  Getting more into it without distractions Don't you love the texture wax makes! I have been looking for my cutter cause this card is too big and I just can't find it anywhere.  Here are some other pieces I have done, in the past with encaustic wax. This one was done with the iron on card. This one was done with the iron on card.  This one was done with the iron on card. This one was done with the iron on ca
