HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

History of Halloween

The Festival of Halloween is a celebration of the end of the fertile period of the Celtic Goddess Eiseria. It is said that when Eiseria reaches the end of her fertile cycle the worlds of the dead and the living interlap. This happens on October 31. Masks are worn to show respect for the Goddess Eiseria who, like most Celtic deities, does not wish to be seen with human eyes. The day also proceeds All saints day, which was at first the celebration of the start of a new cycle of fertility for the Celtic Goddess Eiseria. Couples incapable of producing children thus tried their luck on All saints day.

I haven't been on my computer for ages the weather has turned into Summer and I have been enjoying the sun and getting into my painting and cooking.

On Monday we went and had lunch at Cracked Pepper and while we were there I asked them if they wanted to change their art work, they were dead keen. So we came back pick a few pieces and went back and changed their atmosphere. I have organised to rotate the art on a regular bases. I think Rere, Stefano and I have found a place to have the 'Our Love' exhibition.
When we were walking to have lunch a green rubbish truck went through the lights and knocked the lights off with a big bang. It gave use a hell of a fright when we saw things flying all over the place. We were lucky that we didn't get hit by any of it and if it didn't happened we wouldn't have gone to Cracked Pepper for lunch and my paintings would be still in storage here. Everything happens for a reason.

I went out to the beach with Ralph yesterday and I ended up taking photos of a dead goat. I don't know why I like taking photos of dead things?
I have uploaded my favourite dead animal photo I took when I visited my Friend Mara. Her man is a hunter and hangs all his heads on a tree which I found fascinating and took about 50 photos of them all.

I had a day of people yesterday. I called into see Ness, Carolyn and tried to catch up with Rere but it didn't happen. The kids came up and I made them cheese puff and they sat around playing the playstation, it was nice to see them laughing and having fun! I'm going to paint Ness a family portrait and was thinking about it while they were here, I will wait until she has had her next baby.

Yesterday was 3 years since my Gran died and I love and miss you Gran.

My message for the day was: It is easier to hear us when you are alone, especially when you are in a natural setting.
It's another beautiful day here in Wanganui! I wounder what the day will bring? CANDY hahaha. I might see if the kids want to go trick and treating tonight? Oh I love being a kid! I so enjoyed having a massive flower fight the other night with the kids!

Art Every Day Month Day 13 - Basic Colour Theory

An understanding of the basics of colour theory is essential for every artist and increases the possibilities for your work. Colours are, after all, one of the basic tools of painting. Here are some of the things I have learnt. The Colour Wheel Most color wheels are based on three primary colours, three secondary colours, and the six intermediates formed by mixing a primary with a secondary, known as tertiary colours, for a total of 12 main divisions; some add more intermediates, for 24 named colors like this one.  Primary colours:  Are the three colours that cannot be created by mixing other colours together  - red, yellow, and blue. Secondary colours:  A secondary colour is made by mixing two primary colours together: red and yellow to get orange, yellow and blue to get green, or red and blue to get purple. The secondary colour depends on the proportion in which you mix the two primaries. For example, if you add more red than yellow, you get a reddish orange,...

Art Every Day Month Day 9 - Numbers

11 RULES FOR LIFE ONE - Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. TWO - Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other. THREE - Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. FOUR -  When you say, "I love you," mean it. FIVE - When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. SIX - Be engaged at least six months before you get married. SEVEN - Believe in love at first sight. EIGHT - Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much. NINE - Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. TEN - In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling. ELEVEN - Don't judge people by their relatives. NUMBERS Numbers play a huge role in my life not one day goes past where I won't see sets of three or more numbers. It started at the clock I started s...

Art Every Day Month Day 5 - A mellow day for me.

Last night I was thought it would be fun to do different things everyday, to keep my blog interesting. I had high hopes of doing my creativity outside today but because of a snotty nose and sore eyes, I won't be venturing out there. I am going to keep it pretty simple today and create fractals. What is a fractal? A  fractal  is "a rough or fragmented  geometric shape  that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole," [1]  a property called  self-similarity . Roots of mathematically rigorous treatment of fractals can be traced back to functions studied by  Karl Weierstrass ,  Georg Cantor  and  Felix Hausdorff  in studying functions that were  continuous  but not  differentiable ; however, the term fractal  was coined by  BenoĆ®t Mandelbrot  in 1975 and was derived from the  Latin   fractus  meaning "brok...
