Art Every Day Month Day 7 - Encaustic Wax

I'm really enjoying blogging again, it's been years since I have written everyday. I used to do morning pages before I got pregnant, I have heaps of books full of my dribble. The Artist Way by Julia Cameron got me into the morning pages! Every artist should own a copy of that book!

I was talking to a friend yesterday and she wanted me to order her a box of encaustic wax. I haven't done any encasutic for such a long time, so today was the day to dust off the cobwebs and get melting.

Here are my 2 creations for the day...

Releasing my MADNESS!

Getting more into it without distractions

Don't you love the texture wax makes!

I have been looking for my cutter cause this card is too big and I just can't find it anywhere.

Here are some other pieces I have done, in the past with encaustic wax.

This one was done with the iron on card.

If you would like to read about encaustic painting the best book is The Art of Encaustic Painting: Contemporary Expression in the Ancient Medium of Wax

Jasper Johns is one of my favourite encasutic painter and Gwen who taught me about encaustic x x x.

You can visit this website to find a supplier near you www.encaustic.com

While I was crusing around blogs today I found thriftycollageartist.blogspot.com by artist Susan Buckner, her paintings they are AWESOME!!! It made me want to go and paint in oils again. So I'm praying really hard again for another studio. I know it will come at the perfect time and place :)

And this is another cool website that I visited yesterday zenhabits.net

My card for the day is Energy Healing

You have energy healing abilities that you can direct through your hands, thoughts and heart. Send loving energy to elevate and heal this situation. You can clear the energy in your home, office, or vehicle as well. Your experiences with energy healing may be so powerful that you decide to conduct healing as a profession.

11 RULES FOR LIFE ONE - Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. TWO - Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other. THREE - Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. FOUR -  When you say, "I love you," mean it. FIVE - When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. SIX - Be engaged at least six months before you get married. SEVEN - Believe in love at first sight. EIGHT - Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much. NINE - Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. TEN - In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling. ELEVEN - Don't judge people by their relatives. I Wanted to Be an Artist, So I Quit My Job and Became One

I had to share this article with you today, if I wrote something like this it would sound just the same... I Wanted to Be an Artist, So I Quit My Job and Became One by Christopher Fife. "Hi, I'm Christopher. I'm an artist." Exhale, run my fingers through my hair. "What do I do? Oh, I paint. I'm a painter. Yeah, I'm an artist." I tried it out every now and then, in front of the bathroom mirror. It sounded all right. But when I introduced myself as an artist outside my bathroom world of make-believe, I always felt false. I was like Magritte labeling a pipe. If I said I was an artist, I was an artist, right? Not exactly. Since I dedicated forty-plus hours a week to my corporate graphic design job, I was lucky if I painted a couple of hours a week. I came to despise myself for this self-deceit, for my inability to embrace what I really wanted to be. I wanted to be an artist. So I committed myself to becoming one. I started out like most people ...
