Art Every Day Month Day 16 - Zentangle

I noticed that one of the people doing 'art ever day month' is doing a Zentangle everyday. I had never heard of a Zentangle so with a bit of reading I found out. Zentangle is what I did in the back of my science class everyday, naughty I know! I wanted to share with you what I found out and hope that you get inspired toget the black pen ink out give Zentangle or Zendoodling a go.

The term 'Zentangle' was coined by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas when, one day, Maria described her experience, as she created her art, as "feeling timeless, free and engendering a sense of deep well-being". Rick recognised that she was in a meditative state and so Zentangles were born.

Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Zentangle provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Zentangle is enjoyed by a wide range of skills and ages and is used in many fields of interest.

I was hoping to do a Zentangle last night but I was too tired and fell asleep really early, maybe today?

The Youtube clip of the day is: 'The Gravy' - Matthew Couper

Matt is a well known Wanganui artist. Both my husband and I hope to own one of his big masterpieces one day.

My card for the day is MUSIC, which is very relevant! Yesterday I opened 'Fruity Loops' (music making software) and started to make a new track. It has been years since I have made music, I was a bit addicted for a while way back in 2003. My friend and I where going to put out an album but it never happened.

the card said...The angels guide you to immerse yourself in beautiful music. Music lifts your spirit above earthbound concerns and elevates your thoughts to divine love. The angels want to help you through the healing properties of music. They ask you to add more music into your life. They guide you to play soft background music while you dress, work, and play. They also ask you to whistle and sing often. You may also have drawn this card because of your own musical gift. Have you felt guided lately to compose a song, participate in a musical play, join a singing group or band  or play an instrument? These inner nudges maybe coming from your angels, who can see gods given gift. They know your musical talents will help others. So they ask you to be an earth angel by expressing your gift of song and melody.

Here is a joke for you..

An older gentleman had an appointment to see the urologist who shared offices with several other doctors.
The waiting room was filled with patients. As he approached the receptionist's desk, he noticed that the receptionist was a large unfriendly woman who looked like a Sumo wrestler. He gave her his name.
In a very loud voice, the receptionist said, "YES, I HAVE YOUR NAME HERE; YOU WANT TO SEE THE DOCTOR ABOUT IMPOTENCE, RIGHT?" All the patients in the waiting room snapped their heads around to look at the very embarrassed man. He recovered quickly, and in an equally loud voice replied,  "NO, I'VE COME TO INQUIRE ABOUT A SEX CHANGE OPERATION, BUT I DON'T WANT THE SAME DOCTOR THAT DID YOURS." The room erupted in applause!

Good-Bye Summer Family Ritual

For the past week I have been feeling the shift of seasons from summer into autumn. This has motivated me to c lean out closets, freshening up our home, make this summer photo collage, and created a family ritual. I find ritual really powerful it allows you the time to honour what has come before, say goodbye, and create intentions for what will come next. I've been poking around the internet and have found interesting articles on family summer rituals. Here are some of the suggestions I have read… Summertime is full of outdoor pursuits, so adding the outdoors into your ritual fits perfectly. Preserve summer fruits for the chilly months ahead. Engage in cooking or baking with summer ingredients. Shared a meal of seasonal food. Press summer flowers or herbs in books. Create a summer nature journal, detailing a
